Music Video Ideas/Story (Morgan)

Music video idea - Story

Don't Worry About Me

Analysing the lyrical content, genre and given our tools i can see that we can depict a story of ones growth, maturing in an attempt to prosper and show that they are and individual who can take care of them-self hence 'Don't Worry about me'. Considering the collaborative effort through the songs verses with other artists we can create a visual depicting a journey with the inclusion of multiple characters.

1. Nocturnal Scenes - Production - Shooting/ Time/ Setting

I believe shooting a heavy percentage of the production during evening times can enhance this notion of a character being unafraid and responsible.
I personally feel nocturnal shots add an air of tensity to a film/video and make for an effective setting especially for music videos of this genre and related ones.
To make this effective however i believe we will require a strong source of lighting otherwise the production will fall flat due to unclear, blurry visuals that are dominated by noise.

Konan -  'Last Night In L.A'

This video is shot completely nocturnally by cinematographer Kaylum.
It depicts artist Konan (of the duo 'Krept and Konan') telling stories of how he's matured through life and how he's dealing with success and fame as a result of hard work.

2. Black and White - Post Production- Editing

Including multiple black and white shots will instil a seriousness to the production, it will also add an element of timelessness to the video as the lack of colour creates a retro feel.
Black and white will also give us a variety of varied scenes to comprise in our final piece which if kept simple and with purpose can make for a great video with a range of contrasting scenes.

Skepta - Man

This 2016 hit is from Skepta's album Konnichiwa. The video is peppered with black and whites scenes which in relation to this production enhances the element of crime, mayhem and also reduces the likelihood of the video becoming dated.

3. Settings

Story - Intro

In order to help get across a believable narrative i think an intro can help us to do this. We can do so with dialogue or without, showing actions with an instrumental track playing. Certain locations i thought of for an intro include...

A shop
A domestic setting
A cafe

These settings will allow for us to film simple scenes that are heavily dialogue driven for in cafe's, shops and especially domestic environments conversation frequently flows, thus it wouldn't feel contrived and fake when considering the final product as a whole.
