Initial Ideas For Promo (group)

Style

The genre of our groups music video is grime. Grime is a genre of music that emerged in London in the early 2000s and it is primarily a development of UK garage and jungle. Examples of grime artists that are popular today include Kano, Giggs, Skepta, Stormzy and Avelino.

Concept

The music video would preferably be situated in an urban area e.g. block of flats, a street, or a carpark. Also, our group collectively feels the music video will look better when filmed at night as many grime videos are filmed at this time therefore it would add to the realism of the media product. Also as it is becoming darker much earlier, we can film the scenes earlier than we would have in the dates prior to when we would film.

Narrative

Typical grime conventions in the narrative tend to revolve around money, women, fashion and prosperity.

We want to include an intro to our production, as we feel it would help the audience comprehend the story being portrayed in more depth, we thought of the short film 'The Ellington Kid' and Kano's cafe scene in 'This is England'.

Other productions that include intros include Krept and Konan - 'Dunya' and Avelino - 'Late Nights In the 15'. We feel that we can film this intro in a cafe or a domestic environment as they are both places where casual conversation can take place furthermore they are commonly recognisable places within urban audiences through the media including film and tv through films and shows such as 'Kidulthood', 'Adulthood' and 'Top Boy'.
