Research: Digipak (Pio George)

Digipak

A digipak is a different style of a CD or DVD package which is presented in a 6 panel tray which has a gatefold package. The material is usually made out of paper or card binding with one or more plastic trays to hold the CD inside.

This is a prime example of a digipak.

Bellow highlights details of a digipak:

My group and I have decided to use a 6 panel digipak for our groups digipak. We believe it will help us to effectively create a believable product. This 6 panel design allows my group to have lot of space to work with which would allow a variety of different ideas to be used. I believe this digipak design would work really well with our chosen genre of grime and this type of digipak is widely used for other genres as well.

Jewel Case

The digipak is a new type of packaging that has become an alternative to the jewel case. The jewel case packaging is just a three piece plastic case unlike the digipak which is made out of paper or card binding with one or more plastic trays, which is used to hold the CD.

My group and I believed that a digipak would make our product more eye-catching and visually appealing than a jewel case and decided to use the digipak design.
